Corneal Lens Corporation (CLC) is seeking a Company Accountant to take ownership of its finance function while playing a broader role in business performance, planning and commercial decision-making.
  
CLC is New Zealand’s leading specialist contact lens manufacturer, operating from a purpose-built, ISO 13485 certified facility in Christchurch. The business designs and manufactures custom RGP, scleral, ortho-k and soft lenses, supplying practitioners in New Zealand and offshore markets including Australia and Asia. CLC also distributes dry eye products, contact lens solutions, disposable contact lenses and Ortho-K lenses.
  
The opportunity
Reporting to the Managing Director and working as part of the leadership team, this is a hands on accounting role with real breadth and commercial exposure.
  
You’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day financial management of the business, while using that information to understand performance, identify trends and opportunities, contribute to business planning and challenge assumptions. Working closely with the Managing Director, you’ll provide the financial insight that helps inform sound commercial decisions.
  
You’ll be involved across:

• Management reporting, budgeting and forecasting
• Analysis of sales, pricing, margins and product performance
• Inventory, manufacturing costs, cash flow and working capital
• Payroll, tax compliance and transactional finance
• Strengthening financial systems, processes and controls
• Providing guidance across Accounts and Customer Service

As part of a small team, you’ll also contribute across areas such as people, risk, suppliers and wider operational matters. It’s a role that gives you visibility across the whole business and the opportunity to understand how the different moving parts influence financial performance.
  
About you
We’re looking for an experienced accountant who combines strong financial capability with commercial curiosity. You’ll want to understand what sits behind the numbers, ask good questions and use that understanding to help the business make better decisions.
  
You’ll bring:

• Strong management accounting and financial management experience
• Confidence across budgeting, forecasting and commercial analysis
• Sound understanding of cash flow, pricing, margins, inventory and costs
• The ability to interpret financial information and communicate it clearly
• Confidence working with senior leadership and constructively challenging thinking
• A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to contribute beyond traditional accounting boundaries

Experience within an SME or a broad, dynamic accounting role would be particularly relevant. Exposure to manufacturing, distribution or another product-based environment would be advantageous, but specific medical device experience is not required.
  
A relevant tertiary qualification in accounting, finance or a related discipline is preferred.
