We are partnering with a well-established Canterbury-based charitable organisation to recruit an experienced Management Accountant to provide additional capability and support within its finance function.

Operating within a complex, service-focused environment, the organisation supports children, young people and adults across Canterbury. This is an opportunity to use your financial expertise within an organisation where strong financial management directly supports positive outcomes for people, families and whānau.

The opportunity Reporting to the Finance Manager, this is a broad and hands-on position combining management accounting, financial analysis and business partnering.

You will work closely with operational managers and senior leaders, providing the information, analysis and advice they need to make well-informed decisions. You will be equally comfortable working through the detail of month-end as you are discussing performance, trends and opportunities with non-finance stakeholders.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Month-end accounting and management reporting
  • Budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
  • Cost and revenue allocation
  • Balance sheet reconciliations and journals
  • Invoicing oversight and revenue analysis
  • GST returns and cashflow reporting
  • Fixed asset management
  • Costing and funding models
  • Scenario modelling and financial risk analysis
  • Supporting annual audit requirements
  • Providing meaningful financial insight and advice to operational leaders
About you This opportunity will suit an experienced finance professional who can get up to speed quickly, take ownership and work with a good level of autonomy while still enjoying being part of a collaborative team.
Ideally, you will bring:
  • Previous management accounting, financial analysis or finance reporting experience
  • A tertiary qualification in accounting or a related finance discipline
  • Strong Excel and financial modelling capability
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting and management reporting
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Confidence interpreting financial information and communicating what it means
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
  • An approachable, collaborative working style
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
Experience with Power BI or other Business Intelligence applications would be an advantage.

What’s on offer? This is a full-time, Monday to Friday position with an ASAP start for approximately 3 months. 

The salary range is approximately $80,000 to $90,000 pro rata. Importantly, there is also potential for the right person to transition into a permanent position.
