The Role Aviva is seeking a Sexual Violence Kaimahi to provide timely, safe and professional support to adult survivors of sexual violence and their whānau.
Reporting to the Sexual Violence Team Lead, this is a full-time, fixed term role, lasting through to August 2027. The role will work within Aviva's integrated service model to provide trauma-informed, survivor-centred support following crisis intervention. This includes assessment, safety planning, case management, navigation, referrals, court support and liaison with Police, health services and other specialist agencies.
You'll manage a caseload with care and professionalism while helping clients move toward safety, wellbeing and greater autonomy. The role requires strong relationship-building skills, sound judgement, accurate documentation and a calm, grounded approach when working with people who may be experiencing significant distress.
A key part of the role is contributing to culturally responsive, whānau-centred practice aligned with Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Aviva's values of aroha, pono and tika. You'll work collaboratively with colleagues and sector partners, contribute to service improvement and quality assurance, and help maintain a safe, respectful and reflective team culture.
Key responsibilities include: - Providing timely, safe and responsive support to adult survivors of sexual violence and their whānau following crisis intervention
- Completing client-centred assessments, safety planning and support plans that respond to individuals need and wellbeing
- Managing a caseload, including prioritising support, maintaining engagement and coordinating referrals or service pathways
- Supporting clients through court processes and liaising with Police, health services and other specialist agencies
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and sector partners to provide joined-up, culturally responsive support
- Maintaining accurate records and participating in supervision, quality assurance, reporting and service improvement
About You You will be a grounded, relational practitioner with the warmth, resilience and professional judgement needed to work safely with people affected by trauma and violence. You will understand the importance of trust, choice and dignity in survivor-centred practice, and be confident navigating complexity while keeping safety at the centre.
You will bring strong relationship-building skills, a reflective approach to practice, and a commitment to working in ways that uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi and support whānau wellbeing.
What you'll bring: - Experience working with adults affected by sexual violence, family violence, crisis, trauma, mental health or other complex social needs
- A relevant tertiary qualification, ideally in social work, counselling, psychology, mental health or a related field
- Strong assessment, case management, safety planning and support planning skills
- A trauma-informed and survivor-centred approach to practice
- Sound understanding of risk, confidentiality, professional boundaries and accurate documentation
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies
- A commitment to reflective practice, teamwork and ongoing professional development
- A full, clean driver's licence
- Professional registration, or progress towards registration, in social work or a related field preferred
