Make a difference where leadership and purpose meet.

Orphans Aid International (OAI) has been bringing hope and transformation to vulnerable children and families since 2004. Founded by Sue and Carl van Schreven, the organisation's work spans Eastern Europe, Africa and beyond, helping to change lives through compassion, orphan care, family strengthening, education and direct aid.

OAI has recently relocated its New Zealand base of operations to Christchurch, bringing the organisation into an exciting new chapter. This role will be the operational anchor for OAI's Christchurch base, leading a small, purpose-driven team and ensuring that systems, people and projects run smoothly day to day.

This is a broad, hands-on role spanning leadership, coordination and relationship management. You will support staff and volunteers, oversee administrative functions, donor engagement and fundraising activity, while maintaining strong financial and compliance practices.

Working closely with founders Sue and Carl van Schreven, you will bring structure, stability and connection to the New Zealand operation, enabling them to focus on international programmes while ensuring everything at home runs with care and consistency.

What you'll bring

  • Confidence working across finance, systems and compliance
  • A hands-on, practical approach with the ability to get things done
  • Strong relationship-building skills across teams, volunteers and stakeholders
  • A genuine alignment with OAI's purpose and values
You will be a grounded, people-first leader who combines structure with heart. Someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership and is motivated by contributing to meaningful, impact-led work.

Why this role?

This is much more than just another job. It is an opportunity to be part of something that changes lives for future generations, you will be an integral part of the growth of this fast growing organisation. It is where courage, teamwork, hard work and skills literally change the world.
