GCH Aviation is a well-established aviation organisation delivering specialised services across New Zealand. With more than 30 years of experience, the company operates in a highly regulated, safety-critical environment where strong leadership, disciplined systems and professional standards are essential.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and working closely with the CEOs, Managing Director and operational leaders, the People and Culture Lead will provide organisation-wide HR leadership and trusted advice across all areas of people management.
This role sits at the centre of the business, translating operational priorities into practical people strategies while supporting leaders to manage performance, capability and organisational change. The position works across a multi-site environment where clarity, sound judgement and practical HR support are critical to maintaining safe and effective operations.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Providing trusted HR advice and guidance to senior leaders across the organisation
- Supporting workforce planning, succession and capability development within operational teams
- Managing complex employment relations matters including investigations, performance management and organisational change
- Overseeing recruitment, onboarding and workforce planning to support operational delivery
- Strengthening HR frameworks including policies, recruitment processes and performance systems
- Providing advice on remuneration practices and internal equity
- Supporting leadership capability and reinforcing a strong organisational culture
- Maintaining sound governance across HR administration, records and people processes
- Partnering with operational and safety leaders to support wellbeing, fitness-for-work and regulatory expectations
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who enjoys working closely with operational leaders and providing practical, balanced HR advice in a complex environment.
The successful candidate will bring:
- Strong HR generalist capability with sound employment relations experience
- Experience advising leaders within operational, multi-site or complex organisations
- Excellent knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation and ER processes
- The ability to coach and influence leaders through people management challenges
- Experience strengthening HR frameworks, policies and people processes
- Strong judgement and the ability to manage sensitive matters with discretion
- The ability to balance operational realities with sound people practice
Experience within aviation, infrastructure, transport, logistics or other regulated operational environments would be advantageous.
