An experienced senior HR professional is sought for a contract engagement supporting a well-established, publicly funded organisation during a period of structural transition.
 
This assignment requires calm, credible and visible HR leadership, with a strong focus on complex employment relations and strengthening confidence in people practice within a regional environment.
 
About the Opportunity
 
This is a senior generalist assignment combining hands-on employment relations expertise with advisory leadership.
 
Key areas of focus include:
  • Leading and advising on complex ER matters including investigations, misconduct, performance and capability
  • Coaching and supporting local leaders to manage people issues confidently and lawfully
  • Providing steady, visible HR presence during organisational change
  • Ensuring robust, fair and consistent employment practice
  • Acting as a trusted partner to local leadership while aligning with central People and Culture functions
Whilst we are keen to identify a practical and down-to-earth delivery person, this role also requires sound judgement, emotional intelligence and the ability to operate effectively in an environment where employment decisions are highly visible within the community.
 
About You
 
You will bring:
  • Senior generalist HR experience with strong employment relations capability
  • Confidence leading complex or sensitive cases
  • Experience operating in change environments
  • The ability to coach leaders while managing organisational risk
  • Composure, credibility and strong interpersonal judgement
Experience within public sector or regulated environments would be advantageous.
 
Contract & Work Pattern
  • Contract through to 31 December 2026
  • Hourly rate of $140 (+gst if appropriate)
  • On-site presence in Greymouth essential to build trust and working rhythm
  • Travel and accommodation reimbursed
  • Potential flexibility for some remote work.
