Brackenridge is a respected, values-led provider of residential and community-based support for people with intellectual disabilities and complex support needs. They enable the people they support and their whānau to navigate life with mana and manaakitanga and lead great lives of their choosing. With approximately 500 staff and services delivered across more than 50 homes, Brackenridge operates at the frontline of some of the most complex and meaningful work in our community.
 
Reporting to the Chief Executive and as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the General Manager - Services holds operational accountability for the organisation's largest portfolio with organisation-wide influence across service design & delivery, quality, risk and performance.
 
This is a senior executive role overseeing approximately 400+ frontline staff (via a team of service managers and operational leaders), ensuring services are safe, outcomes focused, person-centred and sustainable.

You will:
  • Provide mana-enhancing strategic and operational leadership across a large and complex 24/7 service environment
  • Shape and strengthen practice frameworks to ensure high quality, outcomes focussed evidence-informed supports in partnership with disabled people and their whanau
  • Lead, enable and empower a diverse leadership team
  • Build and foster relationships with commissioning agencies, government and community partners
  • Drive operational excellence while strengthening service capability and sustainability
  • Lead through complexity and disability sector change
  • Actively shape organisational strategy and long-term sustainability
This role requires both strength and empathy. The work is deeply rewarding and, at times, demanding. Leadership in this environment calls for resilience, emotional intelligence, kindness, courage and sound judgement under pressure.

You will bring:
  • Senior operational leadership experience ideally in disability, health or social services
  • A sound understanding of the Enabling Good Lives vision, principles and UNCRPD and ability to walk alongside disabled people and whanau, staff and communities to enable person-directed outcomes
  • Proven ability to lead and influence at scale directly and through other leaders
  • Strong understanding of risk, quality and safe practice in complex service environments
  • Confidence engaging with commissioning agencies and external stakeholders
  • Experience leading large diverse workforces
  • Demonstrated experience leading change and strengthening performance
  • The credibility and steadiness to hold accountability while maintaining a values-led approach
  • Strong financial and operational performance acumen
A relevant professional qualification with postgraduate leadership or management training is desirable.
