About the Role Reporting to the Chief People Officer, this is a standalone Learning & Development role within a small, collaborative People team. The focus is on moving beyond compliance-based training to a more structured, future-focused approach to learning and capability development.
You will spend time understanding the business, working with leaders and frontline teams and designing learning solutions that are relevant, engaging and fit for purpose. This role requires confidence, curiosity and the ability to work autonomously.
This full-time role is based at the Christchurch head office with flexibility around hours of work. Given the nature of the business, there will be some requirement to travel regionally from time to time to support training delivery.
Key Focus Areas - Partnering with leaders to identify learning needs and capability gaps
- Designing and delivering practical learning solutions across multiple formats
- Building role-based learning pathways and development frameworks
- Delivering in-person and virtual training, including leadership development
- Coordinating external learning providers where appropriate
- Managing learning systems, records and reporting
- Supporting broader people and organisational development initiatives
- Evaluating learning effectiveness and continuously improving approaches
About You You enjoy building relationships, understanding how a business really operates and creating learning initiatives that people genuinely engage with. You're comfortable getting out from behind a desk, listening first and tailoring your approach to suit different teams and environments.
You will bring:
- Prior experience in a learning and development, training, or capability development role, ideally within an HR environment
- Confidence designing and delivering engaging learning sessions
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport at all levels
- A grounded, people-focused approach suited to an operational environment
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of your work
Experience working with geographically dispersed or frontline workforces will be well regarded.
