We are currently looking for a detail-focused and proactive Finance Assistant to support accurate payroll processing, time entry management, and financial reporting across a New Zealand owned infrastructure construction company delivering end to end telecommunications, civil, and utilities projects. This is a fixed term contract starting immediately and lasting through until April.

This role is integral to ensuring payroll and project data is accurate, well maintained, and continuously improving.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Reviewing, validating, and editing employee time entries prior to payroll processing
  • Cross-checking timesheets and confirming accurate project and plant allocations
  • Liaising with team leaders to clarify hours worked and cost allocations
  • Responding to employee queries related to timesheets and payroll
  • Investigating anomalies in time entries, payroll, and project cost reports
  • Recommending corrective actions and process improvements
  • Building and maintaining spreadsheets for payroll, budgeting, and financial analysis
  • Using advanced Excel functions such as formulas and pivot tables to automate reporting
  • Providing ad hoc support to finance and project teams as required
About you:
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach
  • Confident working with data, spreadsheets, and financial information
  • Comfortable collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Proactive, organised, and improvement-focused
  • Solid to advanced Excel capability
If you're immediately available and keen to join a genuinely interesting environment with plenty to get stuck into, we'd love to hear from you! Due to the short-term nature of this role, we will be reviewing applications as they arrive.
